Services & Fees

I understand the decision to begin a new therapeutic relationship is a complex one, with numerous variables including the potential “fit” between patient and clinician, the mode of therapy and the cost of therapy. To help prospective patients plan for the realities and costs of therapy I have provided the following guidelines:

I do not currently accept insurance. Patients and clients are required to pay out of pocket at the time of service and are asked to keep a valid form of payment on file which is auto-deducted if payment is not received at the time of the appointment.

Patients are provided access to “super-bills” including requisite information for submission to PPO health insurance providers, however patients are required to prepare insurance submissions themselves (we can assist with that process). Therapy is often considered a valid expense for various Medical Savings Account plans, however patients must confirm this for their own plans independently.

New Patient Initial Consultation

$550 (length of the first session is about 75 minutes long). If we need additional time, additional charges will apply (15 min increments will be $50 each).

Follow-Up Session

55 - 60 Minute Session: $400

40 - 45 Minute Session: $300

20 - 25 Minute Session: $200

Higher complexity treatment may incur additional charges.

Please contact our office for further information about fee for services rendered. We will work with you to create a payment plan that meets your needs.

Existing patients suffering from financial hardship are eligible to receive financial aid and may inquire directly.

Cancellation and No-show Policy

As I only schedule one person per appointment time, you have effectively contracted for that time. Please note that if you need to postpone your appointment, you are required to give at least 2 business days advance notice. You may not cancel a Monday appointment on the weekend. The full fee will be charged for all appointments that are canceled without at least 48 hours notice as well as any missed appointments.

I allow one unbilled late cancellation or no-show per year if there is an emergency. If you cancel your appointments too often, I will bring this up with you. If you continue to cancel frequently, I may discuss with you the possibility of ending the treatment.

Refills

My policy is to ensure that you have an adequate supply of all medications I prescribe to last until your next appointment. Proper care mandates that I see you periodically.

If you are running out of medications, it is time to schedule a follow up visit.

Should a situation arise when a refill is needed before you are able to make an appointment, an emergency 7-day supply of medications other than controlled substances can be called in. Please email or call with your pharmacy phone #, your date of birth and your exact medication and dosage instructions.

Pharmacy automatic refill requests and faxes are NOT honored, as I want to see you to review current and/or new medication additions and assess for medical and psychiatric issues since your last visit. I must hear from you directly. Refill calls to pharmacy will be made within 2 business days so please keep track of your prescriptions.

Controlled Prescription Policy

Prescriptions for stimulants (e.g. Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse, Concerta, Focalin and others) and Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Clonazepam, Ativan, Valium etc.) are only written during sessions. Stimulant prescriptions cannot be phoned in to a pharmacy, and they cannot be refilled. Patients who are taking these medications must schedule an appointment (in person or via phone) before they run out.

Additional Services

Additional charges will apply for prior authorizations, preparation of letters, reports, disability paperwork, etc.

Accepted Payment Methods

Cash, Check, HSA Cards, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Note: As discussed elsewhere on my site, we do not work directly with insurance carriers outside of medication prior authorizations for very deeply felt reasons (See my thoughts on managed care). Direct payment is due at the time of services. If you would like to apply for reimbursement from your health insurance company, please check if you have "out-of-network benefits.” I can provide you with a receipt/superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider. Health Saving Account (HSA) allocated funds can be used to pay for your sessions. Also, payments made to us can be added towards your deductible. I cannot promise you reimbursement, so please check with your insurance carrier.
